Julian
Hello, world! It’s our extreme honour to introduce Julian – a boy who three short months ago seemed a hopeless case. Since our first encounter in late February 2022, he has come back from the brink of sickness and starvation, guided back to health by the fantastic team at Mount Brydges Animal Clinic. His weight has doubled, his guard has come down, and he has become a sweet and eager companion.
He was found seeking heat during an extremely cold week, and he seemed to have given up. How feral he was, we are unsure, as by the time he came into our trap, he had all but given up (I should note that as I write this, while he isn’t comfortable being picked up, he is clambering to climb up into my lap), and today he is addicted to soft beds and unending pets. We know this is his first time indoors, as he had a bit of a learning curve with the litter box (he’s a champion now!). The vet approximates his age at between 3 and 4 years old. Since coming to us, he has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, groomed incessantly, fed like a king. He is currently a member in good standing in our not-small clowder, his few disagreements with his fellow felines half-hearted attempts to confront; he is happiest watching the action from the sidelines.
Julian has the look of a cat who is not grumpy so much as half-asleep and annoyed at the intrusion. His personality is doting and reserved, and he seems content and grateful to have been given a chance at a real life, as to date, it has been a rough life for him. He has been diagnosed with FIV, an increasingly common disease in the population of intact stray males. Much more is known today about this condition, and the term “death sentence” no longer applies. Cats afflicted with FIV can live normal, healthy lives. Read up on just what this disease is and what caregivers can expect here.
Julian’s situation dictates that he remain an indoor cat – for his health and that of other strays who might come across his path. He can live with other friendly cats, but will require a specialized diet due to food sensitivities. He will likely become the fixture on the couch beside you should you be moved to scooch over a bit and let him into your heart. Interested? Adoption application available here.
This boy has been waiting his entire life for his person; if that person is you, now is the time to bring him to his home.
