Dolly
Dolly was taken from the Appin colony in April of 2020, accidentally trapped and stuck overnight in the rain with Rex. She went directly from trap to vet. She was spayed, at which time we discovered that she had been pregnant. She has lived with us since her capture. Although we know it can’t always happen, in a perfect world, she would be adopted as a pair with her sister, Daisy.
It’s always difficult to see one of the souls you have brought in to help seem so lost; how could she not be afraid? With all the rescue work we’ve done, we never get used to how fearful they can be. Some adjust quickly, while others remain withdrawn. Sometimes it seems like nothing will help, until one day your patience and care pay off and the faintest glimmer of hope makes itself known. A look, perhaps, or reacting (finally) to a toy. Dolly still has yet to show her glimmer – so far, tiny sparks, but no fire.
While she interacts with people on a limited basis, coming for food or treats, she has not had anything but limited human contact, and hangs on the outskirts. She wants to blossom, but she needs patience, and attention. One on one time. She does have a sunny disposition, she just hasn’t had a chance to use it on people yet. Are you up for the challenge?
